Chicago Below Contest and Exhibit

Neil Gaiman’s novel suggests that every city has a city below and each city has a price to pay. As part of our production of Neverwhere, Lifeline is curating “Chicago Below” — an exhibit of images of the Chicago that lives just underneath the glittering parts of the city: the alleys, subways, viaducts and darker places of our own city. We are collecting images to use in our lobby as part of this exhibit — click here to see current submissions.

Join us in turning the lens on our own city.

TO ENTER: you may submit no more than three (3) images of at least 2,000 pixels wide and no larger than 10 MB to chicagobelow@lifelinetheatre.com. Photos may be color or black and white.

Include the following info with your submission:

First Name
Last Name
Email
Preferred name for photo credit
Instagram, flickr, smugmug, or other link (include only 1)

By entering, you authorize Lifeline Theatre to print and display the images selected in our lobby during the Neverwhere run and include them in a Facebook album and/or blog post with your photo credit and link to your preferred photo site or website. You retain the rights to your photograph; however, by entering the contest, you grant Lifeline a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to publicly display your image in our lobby, blog, or Facebook album. Images may be layered in the lobby depending on the ultimate space and design of the exhibit. Please do not use any images of people that are identifiable and for whom you do not have explicit consent to take their photos.

On June 5, we will select one winner to receive two free tickets to our summer production of NeverwhereUPDATE: our panel has selected Igor Studenkov as our winner, for the photo titled “Underground Serenity”. Runner-up is Gary Shum, for the photo titled “Night Stalker”.

Submissions received after June 5 will still be included in our ongoing displays.

Lifeline Theatre employees, artists, and ensemble members may participate in the exhibit, but their submissions will not be considered for the ticket prize.
